Are you a native to San Francisco?
I'm originally
from San Jose. I moved to Berkley and then fled to S.F. when I enrolled at the Acadamy of Art. I've been here
ever since - I'm a Bay Area girl all the way!
When did you get involved putting parties together?
Before I started Stiletto,
I was doing photography and graphic design. I still am! Oh, I also just started learning to DJ!! I get bored
quickly - I need to be constantly learning something fresh to keep motivated. Motivation and creativity in one area
transcends to all other aspects of my life. I like to have my hands in a lot of different projects but I make sure they
all work well together so that I have a more comprehensive perspective. Honestly, I started Stiletto because I wanted
to have my photos be seen by more people and knew flyers would do just that. What I couldn't have forseen was how
much I would love orchestrating events - bringing together all these different factionalized elements to create something
greater.
Tell me a little about your photography - when did you start, and how
did it come together with the Stiletto Parties?
If you want
to go way back, I started doing photography as a little kid with the disposable cameras my mom would give me. I'd
make these tableaux with my stuffed animals and Barbies, pose them just right, and take a photo. I started getting serious,
taking photography classes in high school and went to AAU right after I graduated. I stayed there for three years
until I dropped out because I knew I had gotten all I needed from that institution. Doing Stiletto has been a great
way to get my photos out there on the flyers and realize my photographic vision through the in-club photo studio (which is
shot by Rohini Moradi, and designed by me with Ro's help). Club photography is so ubiquitous and watered down now.
I want to find fresh ways to make it not only relevant, but genuinely artistic.

Tell us more about Stiletto.
I started Stiletto in September '07. April 18th's Prom Theme party will be the 8th edition.
The photo studio, having original films (by M/M) projected throughout the party, and the fashion shows are elements that aren't
seen everywhere else but it's the fresh monthly themes that really set it apart. I wanted to give people an opportunity
to dress up, do something out of the ordinary, to truly be a part of the party. It's the people that go to Stiletto
that really make it what it is.
How would you describe your style?
Yikes! Um.... I'd like to think Blondie meets old Hollywood glamour.
What are your favorite fashion trends right now?
I have yet to see them.
But here's my public service announcement. No more American Apparel! Enough is enough, people!!
Favorite band/music/tunes of the moment?
I'm really digging Santogold,
Heartsrevolution, Steed Lord, and Lykke Li right now. Also remixes by Diplo, Boys Noise, and Klever are always good.
Favorite drink?
Last night Richard introduced me to the 'chocolate
cake shot'. It was love at first sip!
Any other events in San Fran
that are worth a quick mention?
Lights Down Low! Duh. Sucker Punch (Mondays at the Transfer) and anything those wacky Gemini Disco
kids put on.
